Last week the club was joined by Susan Hunwick from The Canadian Red Cross. We learned about how the organization was founded by Swiss businessman, Jean-Henri Dunant who was shocked and saddened by the sight of mortally and fatally wounded soldiers while on a trip to Italy (1859).  At the time there were no humanitarian relief organizations to deal with such horrors. Since then the Red Cross has grown to the point where it has affiliates worldwide. The Red Cross deals with crises locally, nationally, and globally.
